For The Love of Dogs
When Mark and I adopted our first rescued pup from Saving Great Animals in 2015, we didn’t expect that action to open a world built from compassion and solidarity. Through the same organization, we adopted our second dog. I eventually volunteered and spent a few hours of my mornings transporting dogs and screening applicants who wish to adopt. It wasn’t just because it was the right thing to do, but it felt natural like an itch I just had to scratch. Just when I felt fulfilled as a writer, taking part in a community of pet-loving rescuers was the perfect topping that made my purposeful life overflow.
Today, Mark and I are blessed to have been successful in launching CLEVR in the Philippines. I knew this venture would be a great avenue for me to support my passion of advocating for pet rescues. For CLEVR’s 2023 year-end outreach activity, it was a unanimous decision of the team to visit a dog shelter for a day. We chose Pawssion Project in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan and surprised the dogs and the hard-working staff with brand new electric fans, dog food, and grocery packages.
How can people be so neglectful and hurtful of these beautiful creatures? I wonder how they can sleep soundly at night knowing they wronged these animals that have nothing but love for us humans. I will never understand those people, but the light is bright from those with compassion. My efforts through Balay ni Bantay, a community project I established to assist small shelters and independent rescuers around the Philippines, and through the generosity of CLEVR will continue to support Pawssion Project. We hope to someday expand our support and share our blessings as a company with more nonprofit organizations around the country.
